Pattern Comparison
Round Bend
Classic treble geometry: wide circular bend with large gape. The exposed point engages early on the strike — effective on crankbaits, jerkbaits, and topwater lures. Models 1213, 1215, and PH46 use this bend style.
- ▸ Large gape for early hook engagement
- ▸ Models 1213 (Flat Point), 1215 (SR Point), PH46 (Cutting Point)
O'Shaughnessy
Shorter shank, heavier wire gauge, stronger bend. Trades some gape width for holding power — useful when large pike or saltwater fish shake the lure. Compact geometry reduces leverage on split rings. Models 1216, 1214, and PH66 use this bend style.
- ▸ Heavier wire gauge for holding power
- ▸ Models 1216 (Flat Point), 1214 (SR Point), PH66 (Cutting Point)
Point Options
Three point types across the series. Flat Point: general purpose, consistent geometry. SR Point: saltwater-resistant tip treatment. Cutting Point: three-facet grind on PH-series models for hard-mouthed species. All points chemically sharpened after grinding to remove micro-burrs.
- ▸ Flat Point — consistent geometry, general applications
- ▸ SR Point — saltwater-resistant tip treatment
- ▸ Cutting Point — three-facet grind, PH-series only

Common Questions
Which treble hook pattern is best for pike lures?
O'Shaughnessy patterns (models 1216, 1214, PH66) are typically used for pike lures. The shorter shank and heavier wire gauge resist bending when a large pike shakes the lure. For smaller pike lures, Round Bend model 1215 with SR Point offers good corrosion resistance.
What does SR Point mean?
SR stands for Saltwater Resistant. The point tip receives an additional treatment to slow corrosion in saltwater conditions. SR Point is available on models 1215 and 1214. For maximum saltwater life, combine SR Point with HI-TECH Chemical Coated finish.
Can I order treble hooks with custom wire gauge?
Yes. Modified wire gauge is available with MOQ of 2,000 pieces and adds approximately 3 weeks to lead time. Specify the target wire diameter (in mm) when submitting an inquiry. Standard gauges for each model are listed in the specification table above.
Round Bend vs O'Shaughnessy — how do I choose?
Round Bend: larger gape, earlier hook engagement. Better for crankbaits and jerkbaits where the fish strikes fast. O'Shaughnessy: shorter shank, heavier wire. Better for big fish that shake hard, or when you need the hook to sit tighter to the lure body. Uncertain which pattern fits? Request samples of both to test on the target lures.
